The first three years are a blur,
A naïve baby discovering the world.
Beginning to speak words in a slur,
So many new things in one big swirl.

Moving onto elementary school,
Not realizing the time.
Learning 2+2 and The Golden Rule,
Learning how to count nickels and dimes.

Finally reached sixth grade,
Quickly swept off of your feet.
Beginning to feel afraid,
Conscious of who you meet.

Middle school ends in a breath,
And so begins the next trial.
Overwhelmed by homework and tests,
Unprepared for the High School style.

And slowly innocence begins to fade,
Carefree days of playing outside are over.
Experiencing your first failing grade,
Experiencing your first hangover.

I want those days back,
Where I had no problems or concerns.
Because I now realize so many things I lack,
And I have so many more things to learn.
