Dear Elementary School,

Thanks for teaching me to tie my shoe
Thanks for teaching me two plus two

Thanks for teaching me right from wrong
And that the opposite of short is long

Thanks for helping me write my name
And teaching me that not every day will be the same

I now know that every action has a consequence
And to ask for help if something doesn’t make sense

Thanks for helping me grow

Ready, Set, Here I Go!

The author's comments:

Being a senior and going off to college, I started reflecting on my life and my memories, and elementary school was a large part of my childhood. I have so many memories from there, and I had a lot of firsts in elementary school. I believe that the things they teach you in elementary school are simple enough to be the basis of everything else you learn for the rest of your life, not only academically, but also personally. I wrote this as a thank you letter to my elementary school before I leave for college and take on the rest of my life.
