You told them to speak less.
Now everybody's speechless.
Private First Class became Private Don't Ask
questions we don't want answers to.
Make 'em read between the lines
of the letters home.
Tell 'em honesty held you hostage.
Now you're a war captive.
Dogtags became nooses.
Honesty strangled him.
Died with love on his lips,
lies on his tongue.
At his funeral nobody sung.
Nobody talked.
Nobody cried.
Asked not to.
Question your integrity.
Question your sanity.
Question your authority.
Don't ask him though, he won't tell.
