The Blackest Berry
Don’t believe there’s a saying more true than “The blacker the Berry the sweeter the juice”
Recently came to the conclusion though I should have always knew, my people were and still are a talented and enlightened few
Knowledge profound and talent profuse, through history and present, you will find that the blackest berries produced the sweetest juice
Melanin enriched enlightenment, see I’m really not sure when being “woke” became a trend
But I truly hope this widely spread Afrocentricity will not soon end
It will help with healing, years of oppression, generations of abuse, my people’s gross misuse
Through your life please remember that you, a black berry, will produce the sweetest juice

This poem is full of Afrocentric vibes, I actually originally wrote it on a classroom board, when I was asked to write a quick poem about my relationship with my race and my people's history.
