The Silent Killer
Do you see that darkness?
Can you feel that cold?
Whose shadows lurk the city streets
And is so very cruel?
Have you heard of the silent killer
That pounces at its victims from every corner?
That resonates deep inside your soul
That sits and seeps
And makes you weak
Unable to breathe.
That sends trickling drops of fear down your body
Its poisonous fog
Makes you tremble
And locks you inside
To block you
From the light
What is this darkness?
That erases youth?
That destroys homes?
That crushes hope?
That changes your thoughts
Like a puppet and its master?
That darkness
My friend
Is the greatest poison of all
Self doubt
And it is only as strong
As you are weak.

Humans (especially teens) undergo a lot of pressure to always be perfect. We try so hard to achieve perfection, that sometimes we lose ourselves in the process. We are so torn apart by personal feelings of not being good enough, that sometimes, we just give up. No matter how bad of a day any of us teens had, we have to keep our head held high and not let confidence destroy our society any greater than it already has.
