Light and Dark

The light recurs day after day, taking the place of the night slowly
creeping, careful not to disturb the peace of rayless shine.
The light and the darkness… the perfect pair.
If left with just light the flower flames.
If left in darkness, the flower shrivels and dies.
Light must wane, darkness must fade,
and yet they do not understand that one does not stand without the other.
If left in darkness the power of the sun would not melt the snow,
if left in light, the glow of the moon would not create dreams.
Darkness will open windows to reveal the gold,
light will close doors to conceal the sleeping minds.
Light will melt, dark will create,
because where would we be without the bright of the dark and the dull of the light.
