We
We will
will shine, bright and shoot ourselves
to illuminate the sky.
Tonight we make the ultimate                                     sacrifice to our God,                                                       the sky.                                                                       And launch ourselves into his omniscient

atmosphere.

Now we must align ourselves--
into an intricate pattern. Leo we like to call it.
A furry mutt with a tattered mane and awfully fanged--
Claws.

Just like the design, we hate the group of which we’re placed.
There’s not a single friend to talk to. We’re set apart from our...
Family. but the sacrifice is for you and yours.
So enjoy the view yes,
you must take it in.You don’t know the pain of what the star has been. Through,
the constellations maybe you can return the favor and be overjoyed,
at the sighting of ritual sacrifice.

The author's comments:

I enjoyed creating this piece because I personifed the stars. The stars have a mind of their own, but one thing that makes them similar to humans is that they too hate their job. This is one of my favorite poems that I have thus far composed. I hope you enjoy.

XOXO -Laureen
