The confusion of art
I don’t understand how this poetry thing works,
splicing metaphors with metonymies,
simile with synecdoches,
making every sentence invoke emotion,
every word having a meaning,
making people laugh out of sadness,
and cry from joy,
while they simultaneously don’t understand a word they hear,
but also can’t stop listening,
forcing me to feel things I didn't think were possible,
that I never want to feel again ,
the manipulation of our emotions,
contorting them how the author sees fit,
to get their point across,
but that is art
feeling these emotions, but continuing to listen
to read,
to watch,
because that is art

When we were learning about poetry in English class I was always confused at how people wrote poetry, and this is just me voicing that confusion.
