Don’t leave me now,
You’re letting me down.
I wish that you’d stay longer.
I’ve lived in winter before,
Your frost still chills my bones.
But I want you to come home.

Hospital beds and IV drips drop
Time stops here
There’s a constant cool
The white crumpled sheets around you
Don’t protect me from your cold.

You tell me that you’re fine,
I hear the choke in your tone.
You tell me you haven’t been drinking,
But the bottle’s half empty.

You sleep silently, unaware
of me
And yourself.
