and you are the only one
your pain is valid
your feelings significant
you are important
for even when no one is around
and you wish someone would hold you
you are still you
no one can take you
rob you
or make you lose you
remember you
who you are
who you want to be

I wrote this piece after feeling discouraged by my anxiety. I felt that I couldn't tell anyone I wanted to impress, because anxiety is embarrassing. It shouldn't be. It's not who I am, but it is something I experience. This is for anyone who feels alone and trapped and scared and smothered. You matter. Someday someone will recognize it.
