The Penguin That Could
The sky darkens above the flightless bird.
Superbly adapted to aquatic life,
wings transformed into flippers,
penguins simply cannot fly.
The monochromatic feathered outcast
surrounded by chilly chunks of ice,
cold, no other arctic bird in sight.
Penguins simply cannot fly.
He is a nonconformist.
Looking below, at this Grand Canyon before him,
he spreads his wings,
then flies.
