Wispy winter winds flow through the frozen forest.
A lone deer trots through the snow fields.
Through magnified vision, he finds a clover patch.
He stops, waits, and listens for slight noises.

The sun begins to glow.
Light rays penetrate the tall naked trees,
their branches scream in the wind as they struggle to support the snow.
They swing, sway, and shake after every slight breeze.

The air becomes warm and snow turns to slush.
And all of the trees’ screams are hushed.
Sprouts of leaves and flowers bloom.
Signs of summer are sure to be soon.

The slush withers away,
as nights turn to day.
There is no need to fear,
because summer is finally here.
