October 24, 2016
I’m from baseball cards,
from snagging a good sports biography,
or begging for a game of canasta.
I’m from scrambling to the TV,
to watch marathons of M*A*S*H, Johnny Carson,
or This Week In Baseball.
From looking up to George Brett
and Darnell Valentine.
From Led Zeppelin,
Queen, Lynard Skynard, The Beatles
and The Doobie Brothers.
I’m from owning up to a proud family name.
“Never forget that”,
my dad says with a wink.
