Why am I not good enough for you?

Is it because I'm weird, different
Or simply not cool?
Why am I not good enough for you?

Is it because of my hair?
Or my clothes?
Why do you stare?
Why am I not good enough for you?

You look at me but I turn away;
I can't see the sight of your judgmental face.
You look again but I'm gone in a trace
Why am I not good enough for you?

I lay awake at night in bed
Running circles through my head;
What have I done wrong
To deserve such hateful dread?

I feel your eyes burn through my soul
Feeding off my empty skin
But although you try to pull me down
I will never let you in.

Because you can't suck me into your ways
And even when you hide your face
I will find you and tear you apart
Because I am good enough.

I am good enough for you
I'm good enough for him
And her
And myself
And  you can't  tell me anything else.

I am strong and powerful and courageous
And outstanding.
Standing more brilliant than a million suns
That always rise but never fall
I am the storm that overtakes
The skyscrapers that were built to stay
I take them down with one powerful wave
The strength of a million earthquakes
That rumble a city and shake the town
And steal the crown of an ungrateful King
Who searches for love in a diamond ring
With the eyes of a million scavengers.

And you will not take me down
For I am the beast with the looking glass.
I see all of the spirits who gad about
For themselves that you have ruined.

Why am I not good enough for you?
Is it because you were once me, too?
Did someone make you a mocking fool?
We shall no longer duel for the privilege of cruelty.
We must join hands and fight for unity.
We shall no longer hunt and kill and bleed
We must all sing as the humming bird's deed.
And expell those filled with greed
For that is our duty for the flight of liberty!
