I believe in the silent moment before your first kiss in the back of a car,
you can almost hear your heartbeat in your ears.
Light dancing across two dark figures.
Fingertips dancing on skin.
Becoming one.
I believe in heartbeats.
When your heart beats so fast you can't remember what it's like for it to beat at a normal speed.
You can't remember anything.
I believe in sweaty palms and shaky words.
Wiping your palms on your jeans,
Then clenching them back into fists.
Words shaking off of your tongue at immeasurable speeds,
your chest feels hot and your brain feels as though it might bubble to a pop.
I believe in dancing alone in the shower
Steaming water streams down your bare body.
Salty water streams down your cheeks.
Tickling the corners of your mouth.
I believe in Friday nights in bed,
clean hair and skin dressed in soft tattered Superman pajamas.
I believe that life doesn't stop for anyone.
That the world will keep spinning
As long as you do.
I believe in not fitting in,
But I do not believe that many of us stand out.
I believe that the relationships you have now aren't the relationships you will have in ten years.
I believe that we change ourselves to fit in.
that I changed myself to fit in.
I believe in therapy. I believe in weakness.
I believe that just because you are weak, does not mean that you are not strong.
that being weak is not conducive to not being strong.
I believe in trial and error
and error
and error.
I believe that the best way to learn is to do-
and fail.
A lot.
I believe that siblings are the greatest gift that we can be given.
That sisters are just another version of yourself.
I believe in drinking water-
Lots and lots of water.
I believe in the power that a cup of tea has on your mood.
I believe in love at first sight.
I believe in unrequited love.
I believe in walking a little faster in the hallway,
Just to catch their gaze.
I believe that good things come to he who goes out and gets them.
I believe in the sun,
sand, hot concrete, and sweat.
But I also believe in rain,
broken heaters, and cold glass paned windows.
I believe that life is meant to be lived.
I believe that life is not a museum.
You can always buy new shoes.
