I kick the starter on my dirtbike;
After a few kicks,
The thunderstorm rolls in.
I let it get warmed up for a bit,
Like burning coals on the grill.
I pull in my clutch,
Stick my boot onto the shifter,
And pop it in gear.
Twisting the throttle, I release the clutch and take off
Like a jet on an aircraft carrier.
My tire eats the dirt and regurgitates it back.
I approach the face of a jump at high speeds.
I lean back and seat bounce.
The suspension compresses and rebounds as I feel weightless,
Soaring through the air.
I fly like an out of the park homerun ball.
I land the jump,
Smooth as a fresh snow bank
I pull off to the side.
“Whew.”

What inspired me to write this poem is my love for motocross. I try to ride atleast once a week although I am very busy because of school and other sports.
