I am from a cozy, clean, cabin house with full windows,
mahogany teakwood lingering from Mom’s candle.
Flowers on the wrap around porch hanging in the golden sun.
From the roomy kitchen where we dice onions,
we  make our guacamole, loved.
Bursting of garlic and cilantro.

I am from Dad’s t shirts,
cozy, light, and smelt like Cool Water cologne.
I am from winter nights in the hot tub,
wearing hats so our hair doesn’t freeze.
the sound of the snow falling.
I am from “Get up get out of bed drag the comb across your head.”
From scrambled eggs with a tall, tart glass of OJ.

I am from Ome’s Christmas decorations.
From her chocolate chip cookies
warm and buttery out of the oven.
I am from August 23rd, 2014,
shocked, scared, sudden.
I am from the rowdy dance studio,
packed with inspiration and cracker crumbs in the carpet.

I am from crisp, cool autumn days,
with football and Dad’s chili leaving me full, feeling content.
From rainy days and snuggled down blankets,
When New York and Arizona took my best friends.
“Harry Potter makes everything better.”

I am from radiant days on Green Lake,
tubing with cousin Chris and drying my hair in Mom’s lap while the sun set.
From running bases in the front yard to sticky sweet s'mores around the fire.
I am from 4th of July fireworks,
sparks in our boat, food abounding.

I am from those moments,
“Hold on to those who dream with you,
and for you.”
