Where I'm From
I’m from toasty Sundays with the family,
sitting in service an hour a week.
Lemonade stands on end of the driveway with the blazing heat on our backs.
I’m from nippy winters on the hill,
sitting by the fire (watching the bright orange/red coals sparkle)
building forts with my older sister.
Racing inside covered in snow waiting for steaming chocolate,
I’m from a glistening yellow house on the corner,
with a loud dog, lazy cats and two explosive stressful teenagers.
Parents that won't let them be separated from their kids.
I’m from weekends with the relatives,
sitting around the campfire losing track of time.
playing volleyball when we can in the beating sun,
Watching the parents enjoy themselves stress free.
