a day in the life of a pebble
i am trapped
in this glass fish tank
struggling to keep my head above the surface
gasping for just a tiny breath,
but all i seem to inhale
is your toxic words
they fill my lungs, weighing me down
taking the air from my throat
and the cries for help from the tip of my tongue
i try to swim
but i cant fight the waves
this pitch black water that crashes onto me
swallows me whole,
throws around as if i were nothing but a pebble
i kick and flail and i try to resurface
but the fury of your storm holds me under
and its only so long until my air runs out
until this pebble erodes away
into the cruel, uncaring water that surrounds it
