"Fall seven times, stand up eight." -Japanese proverb

On hot summer days

With nothing to do,

And on lonely nights

When sleep evades me,

My mind grows restless,

A slave to my heart.

It forms words

That are impossible to contain.

I write them down

In a maddening frenzy,

Feeling my heart lighten

With every word,

Every thought,

Every feeling expressed.

The author's comments:

When I write my poems, the ideas form spontaneously, and without warning. I believe this poem describes exactly what goes through my mind when a poem starts to form.
