The Girl Who Cuts
You say it helps you survive,
But I do not believe it.
You say the scar doesn’t show,
But I already see it.
You say “I don’t know how else”,
But I know how to stop it.
You say that you will stop soon,
But I cannot see past it.
You say that you are trying,
But I don’t think you stop it.
You say you can keep living,
But I say you won’t love it.
You say you really need them,
But I will always doubt it.
You said you can’t live without it,
But I can help you get through it.
So let me.
You let me.
My friend used to cut, and I helped her through the obstacle. She couldn't go through the process of stopping by herself, and she turned to me. I was so glad that she did, because it made me feel strong and trustworthy that she let me help her.
