The Screen
When did we start caring more about followers
instead of real friends?
One person can’t have a thousand friends.
We now use likes as compliments,
shares as agreements,
blocks as conflict.
People can say what they hate about one another
anonymously,
thinking it doesn’t hurt their feelings.
But it does.
That person on the other side of the screen has emotions,
and just because your name isn’t posted
doesn’t make it okay.
Most people know it isn’t right,
but they click send anyways,
and they scroll, pretending it didn’t just ruin someone’s confidence.
We need to stop this battle
and stop the suicides that result
before our life becomes a screen.
