Figment of My Imagination

Awoken from my slumber in the darkest of night
I lept out of bed and searched for the light
conceiving the worst creature Imaginable
I flipped the switch expecting something abominable
after my eyes adjusted I was pleased to find
that the thing in the corner was just in my mind
relived to see nothing I tried to calm down
but the beating of my heart continued to pound
I turned off the light and went back to bed
with nothing to fear ‘cause it was all in my head.
