We Are the Broken
We are the broken people
We are the ragged spirits
Falling together
Hearts filled with nothing
Alas!
Our thoughts dry, when
We stand together
Are sad and empty
As a lone wolf
Or as headlights on a deserted street
In our colorless world
Music without ears, art without senses
Societal pressures, life without meaning
Hearts beating in unison
Growing faint though still
Raging on
Broken smiles in our minds
All hope we had lost
All the trouble we had caused
Meaningless
Just a smear on the glass
That will soon be wiped clean
The voice on the wind
Saying everything will be okay
Has been silenced
This is nothing
This is our destiny
Written in the cracked stone
"Here lies the broken,
The beaten, and the damned."
It was a good run
But what was it for?
In the end there is nothing
Not a thing
Ashes to ashes
Dust to dust
We all fall down
We saw our shadows
Strolling mindlessly behind us
Realizing that they were us
And we were them
Shapeless and void of color
Wandering this place
No real meaning
We followed along
Carrying our mind
And bodies
Heavy with the weight of
Nothingness
A world that leaves you reeling
From decimated dreams
Your misery and fate
Will kill us all
Paint it black
And take it back
Defiant to the end
We hear the call
To carry on...
