Five days ago,
she kissed her sister,
cold lips mingled with
warm chocolate brown.
    I love you.
Four days ago,
she opened the door.
Forced herself to walk past silent faces,
into the night lit by silent sirens.
    Good bye.
Three days ago,
she stood.
One girl against
crossed arms,
pointed fingers.
    Believe me.
Two days ago,
she cried, kicked, screamed,
tear-stained face against rusted metal.
    You don’t know the truth.
One day ago,
she prayed to God,
dusty bruised knees,
cold cracked stone.
    Please.
Just today,
she took a breath.
Head colliding
against cement,
as crimson red
seeped into thread.
    Forgive me.
