Early Career
Early Career
I was this obnoxious little boy.
Everything in sight felt like a threat so I proved my dominance
Most of the time it didn´t work out my way.
So my mom had me channel my aggression into a sport.
Wrestling was the sport of choice.
It started out great with a gold medal for my first meet.
Soon after came the struggle.
My first loss was heartbreaking.
It felt like there was a death in the family.
I dwelled on it for weeks.
That one loss turned into multiple.
My coach made me snap out of it.
I had to refocus in order to compete at the best of my ability.
I learned how to improve from my mistakes.
Practice became more enjoyable.
I started having fun again.
The result was more dedication for the sport.
State was coming up.
That meant more work less play.
And I was prepared for that.
With all the positive people surrounding me it was easy not to get distracted.
Work became play for me.
I put in all the work that was expected of me.
I was feeling the best I ever had that year coming into state.
As a rookie there wasn´t that much pressure on me.
But I put all the pressure on myself.
I hated to lose.
I came into the tournament with a great attitude
I dominated everybody up until the finals.
My opponent in finals was huge compared to me.
I wrestled my best but still came up short.
I lost by one point.
The feeling of defeat motivated me this time instead of being upset.
The motivation carried me through the rest of my career.
And during my 8th grade year my dream came true.
I became a state champ.
