Curled up,
desolate on the icy, tile floor.
Escape –
an unreliable addiction.
Desire –
freedom that will never arrive.
Memories,
come back to engulf us like rapid flames.
Ecstasy.
Temporary relief takes over.
A black shadow, seizes the body and mind.
Why does what we attempt to flee from
claim our souls forever?
