Motionless

My hands itch to reach out

But I keep them

On my thighs

My fists loosely clenched

As they rest there

My tangled brown curls

Get tossed around by the breeze

Goosebumps pop up

Along my stiff arms

A fallen leaf

Tickles my knee

But I remain there

Motionless

So still, I can hear my heart beating

Pumping blood throughout my body

The adrenaline rushing in my ears

I can hear life

Happening all around me

A bird chirping in the distance

The rustle of the grass beneath my feet

The howling wind engulfing me

The flowers blooming

The dirt nurturing

Calling out to me

But I remain there

Motionless

Shocked

By how much I hear

How the world still goes on

Without me in it

My eye twitches

Begging me to move

To be free

But I remain there

Motionless

Sitting on the cold

Hard ground

Listening and feeling

Letting life play on

Slowly

Breathing in and out

The cold air hurting my nostrils

Burning my throat

Chilling my lungs

But I remain there

Motionless

Suspended

In the moment

Listening

To the beautiful orchestra

Of life

Play on

All around me
