Are you angry?
Once I was a little girl, a robin, a sparrow
and Nobody told Me that my Growth would clip my Wings.
Once I was a fluid Leaf, a Thought, a Word for the taking
Once I was a summer Breeze, a Hope, a Glint
In ocean’s Eye.
Now I am Wildfire.
Yes, I am angry.
Are you scared?
Now, I am a pounding heart. Now, I am a sick mesh of clutter in the stomach of a Woman at Night.
Now, I am a short Skirt, a Cigarette end, a quiet slice of Lack of Laughter.
Soon, I will be a wisp of Smoke.
Yes, I am scared.
Are you tired?
Soon, I will drag my Feet along the asphalt Slick that clings to my Throat.
Soon, I will SCREAM
Soon, I will KICK
Soon, I will again Say I am Sorry.
Soon, I will gouge out wooden Sculptures from the stone Faces of those who Love Me.
Soon, I will RUN.
Sooner, I
Will
CEASE.
Yes, I am tired.
I am.
