My Wish Came True
I can feel my heart beating
When I check to make sure it's still there
My breath has gone from rapid gasps
To a steady, shallow flow
So this is the end
I'm at my final resting place
The last thing I remember
Is running through a battlefield
Of screaming and crying
Of feeling and killing
Of living and dying
And then falling into this bloody trench
That now looks so much like a crime scene
And a graveyard
They say slow deaths are the worst way to go
But it's not so bad now that I've accepted it
Because this way you have time to remember
The wishes you've made
My wish
Was that I would die alive
And I think it's coming true
Though tortured, I'm sane
Though broken, I'm strong
Though dead, I'm alive
And even though I've killed
I didn't do it because I wanted to
And I've never killed another's hope
The way some warriors do
And if this is the end
Then I welcome it
Because there's a satisfaction in knowing
That the world can't damage me anymore
I am now invincible
And my wish came true
Because I am dying alive
