Girl Like "Save Me"
You think,
maybe love can save me,
girl like velvet,
boy like knives.
And you sleep like a sentence, so that he may finish you,
girl like asphalt,
boy like stars.
And from the seventh story of your apartment building you jump,
girl like raincloud,
boy like sand.
And, once again, you think,
maybe love can save me,
girl like thunder,
boy like glass.
And you fall, holding hands,
girl like comet,
boy like sky,
forgetting that, at some point, you will hit the ground.

The concept that dating someone, or even loving someone will heal us is common amongst teenage girls and boys these days, especially those dealing with difficult situations as well as emotions. This poem highlights this idea has a misconception, showing that no matter how much you want love to save you, it cannot. In order for love to be beneficial, one has to love and take care of themselves first.
