Dad used and drank what should have made him courageous
But instead dulled his mind and changed his love
Mom ignored and preached
As though she knew all
And all was that Dad was as fine as he ever was
Sister took after Dad
She partied
And skipped what she shouldn’t have
She loved boys that wouldn’t love back and boys that weren’t hers to have
And made friends with those who couldn’t be friendly
And I
I brought home the good grades
Joined the Clubs
Fought the good fight
Smiled the almost believable smile
Made cuts in more ways than one
Ignored those who tried to make nice
Because I would rather slice and bring home the good grades.
