answer the phone at 4 am to hear that voice you’d almost forgotten, telling you: “i can still feel you here,”
sit in silence for a few beats because you’re not sure if you’re still dreaming: “have you ever heard of those soldiers that lose their legs during combat but they feel like they’re still there? your absence is tangible, and i know the war’s been going strong but can’t it be over now?”
