Waiting for my twentieth anniversary

Stuck for 20 years for murder
Regrets lingering inside my head
Waiting for those twenty years to end
I lean on the black metal bars thinking.

I wonder what my family thinks
Murdering an innocent man
I wonder if my new child will read about me
Reading about a murdering father.

I look back at 20 years from now
I wonder how the world will be in 20 years.
I wonder if I will fit in
Being gone for that long
When I am already 50.

When I get out
I will be a retired man with many debts.
I can feed the birds,
Play golf and
Try to see my family.

I will be free
I can do whatever pleases me but
Every retired man misses his old job.
