A Loom of Memories

I sleep tucked in my time wrap,
Floating between the dreamy skies
and the sea of reality.
The sands watch over the horizons
as I imprint them with sweet memories.
Why does the wind on my forehead,
sometimes feel like the soft caress
of my mother’s hand?
I rush through the mornings
when a kid’s cycle-
pulls at the strings of my bag,
and a scar on my elbow makes me smile.
I fascinate as how I outgrew
my kindergarten teacher-
Her petite frame was so overbearing,
not so long ago.
So many friends stopped, played along
and moved on.
I walked on only to realize
how invaluable was their touch,
and how I grew through the heartbreaks and joys.
I keep my memories with reverence.
For they are in the intricate enigmatic design
of the universe, of which I pass by, enriched.
Memories of the days when everything
new was so fascinating,
Yet, I was all knowing.
Not so long ago,
As the days pile on now
the lesser I know.
The complexities baffle me,
The beauty stupefies me-
Between sleep and wakefulness,
dreams and reality,
In this time wrap I move
With the treasure of my memories…

I really agree with you Gurmehar. Change is inevitable and change is the only constant. Life is but a chain of memories. In the treasure trove of our life we keep adding memories right from our birth till our death. We carry it always with us. Mind boggling work Jasmine11. Keep up the good work!

It's kind of fun to do the impossible!

I really like the idea of the poem. It's strange how we grow so fast forgetting our teachers, friends and get new friends, new acquaintances as we grow older. Sometimes we regret the fact that change is inevitable and find it difficult to adapt to new surroundings but like it's very well said that change is the only constant, we have to stand and depend on this pillar which itself keeps changing. We take on old memories and add new ones. I really like your poem!

This poem is beautiful. The personal detail wrapped me in and it made me smile!
