I was alone

They told me
I was a candle
Alone in darkness
With only my golden flame
To guide me
All alone
With only the darkness
Wrapping its steady arms
Around me

 

I wasn't alone
Though
They were wrong
I was never alone
I was the candle
In darkness
Like they said
But I wasn't alone
I was never alone
For I had the darkness
The darkness was my friend
