Girl and Horse
She ran her hands over the smooth skin of the animal
Feeling every soft hair as she went.
Her cheek was warm aginist the strong, muscled neck.
The dense, kind build of the horse made her feel safe.
A long, heavy breath sent the sweet, warm smell of hay up her nose.
Hay and horses... perfect.
Sunlight washed over the whole barn,
Filling it with life and gentleness.
Quietly, the horse nickered in the girls ear,
as she gently stroked the creatures strong, but soft, flank.
She was safe here.
Safe, with her closest friend.

I wrote this poem from experience. I love horses, and this is one of my favourite moments with one.
