They’re all wrong-

They say we’re not how it’s “supposed to be”

I say our love transcends their small minded reality.

Our hearts beat in a different galaxy.

They say I must sacrifice bits of me for bits of you.

But this leaves me disheartened and confused-

What is a “sacrifice” done in your name?

They must mean an honor

They must mean a joy-

I’d gladly part with some stars to light up your sky.

They say the right love brings out only your light,

But doesn’t it take so much more to expose your night?

To reveal your dark matter that no one else can see,

To know true trust as after all that, I don’t leave?

No, instead my walls upon walls fall to the ground,

And I let you kiss my jugular with your open mouth.

Now, I crawl into your spiral arms, and we do not say a thing.

There will never be words for that look in your eyes,

The sharpness to them as they bore into mine.

Cliches burn on my lips as I want so badly for things to stay just like this,

But I know better than to think I can steer my stars in your direction,

To think we can do anything but follow our own constellations.

If we have faith in nothing else, let us have faith in our stars,

And that we will not for so long, be so very far apart.
