I remember that it struck me like lightning,
The day I realized why I hate math so much,
And trust me, it’s not because I don’t understand it.

I think in numbers, you see, when I put something
Into my mouth, I am not eating food, I am eating
Calories; a number on a package, a sticker, a label,

And when I step on that scale for the four hundredth
Damn time that week, all I can see is that little
Flashing number that tells me I’ll never be a

Zero.

And as I said, here come the numbers again,
Telling me that zero is perfect, zero is empty,
Zero could be me if 1,500 calories got a little bit

Smaller.

And let me tell you that math doesn’t seem like
Much fun when by your 8:45 algebra class, you’ve
Already looked at the number on the tape measure (26)

Twice.

And let me tell you that there are fourteen letters in

Eating disorder

And that this is one math problem I still haven’t solved.

this is my first poem that is strictly about one personal experience, and all I have to say is stay strong, and thanks for reading this.

Thank you! And actually, the spaces weren't intended. When i pasted the poem into the submission box, it automatically did that. I'm not sure how i feel about it, but that's okay, and you're right, it does seem to fit. Anyways, thanks for the feedback!

I don't really get the spaced out style to it, but it does seem to fit which I guess is all i need to get. Anyway, I this is nice. I've read some of your other stuff and it's all really good, relatable (somewhat), creative, and original. I'd say some of the best stuff I have read on Teenink and such.
