On an uneventful trip
Complicated by problems,
A man threw himself onto the tracks,
And a fire broke out.
The train slowed to a stop;
Everyone poured out.
In mid-July,
Clouds boiled away by the sun,
A fire blazed,
Polluting the clear blue sky with orange and gray.
We passengers sat and waited.
The air cooled.
Night drew close.
The train moved into darkness.
