i tended to get lost in your eyes
they were like a galaxy
i pretended to count the stars
you ran away from your exam
because you heard the ice cream truck
outside your classroom window
you knew they were selling my favourite ice cream
you sent me roses
red
every tuesday
and denied, denied, denied
that it was you who sent them
when you said you were dying
you decided you were going to boycott
cancer
after you died
a boy tried to kiss me
and all i could think about were your lips on mine
i can’t use the present tense, you’re gone
