bite your tongue
and wipe the blood
from the corners of your mouth
stitch your wounds
with all the things that you're afraid of
keep your head up
and your eyes low
count your words as carefully
as the breaths that you take
don't question the things
that swim through your mind
while you sleep
dip your toes into the water,
feel the ocean pour
into your veins
and don't let anyone
near the wires of your brain
