Best Friends to Stranger
We used to talk all the time
On the phone and in person
At the park at your house
You used to surprise me at my front door
Just so we could hang out
You walked with me to the bus every morning
Just so I wouldn't be alone
You used to compliment my outfits
No matter how stupid they were
You stuck with me through thick or thin
Then ‘A twist of fate’
‘Made it so I had to walk away’
You stopped calling
Never texted back
Ignored me when I showed up at your house
I knew everything about you before
I knew all your secrets
From the songs you sing when you’re alone
The people you trust
And the ones you despise
And now I know nothing
But your name and your past
I don’t judge you
I accept you
But you still ignore me in passing
Maybe if I would have tried harder
You wouldn't be ‘a little bit out of my limit’
You’d be just in my reach
And I’d get my Best-Friend back
Instead of a Stranger
