What Will Change?
Have you ever looked at your favorite drink?
The one that you had to buy at a convenience store or a
super market.
It was kinda new
You've never heard of it before
You gazed at it once or twice.
You didn't even buy it the first time you saw it
You just thought it was some promotion that would go wrong
Sooner or later
But one day,
You choose it.
Based on the price and the quantity, it matched against ones you would usually prefer.
It wasn't as bad for you as Monster.
Though, it wasn't exactly water.
Tasted OK, just OK.
No where near Dr. Pepper, but it's up there with Sprite.
Next time you walk into the store, you have to be quick
Couple candy bars, chips, gummy worms...
Without thinking, you grab a couple of the new drinks.
They keep you under your barely double digit budget.
Soon, you start going to the store for that drink
You start buying, buying a couple or more at a time
You shrug at the cashier, saying it's for "friends".
Now?
That's your favorite drink
You buy it in six-packs now.
It's been a few months.
You recommend it to everyone.
Then you sit down in your solitude
So ready to twist the cap off.
It doesn't feel right.
The cap and the bottle are made of less plastic
It's smaller.
It doesn't look right
Guessing, you say the drink inside the bottle is a few millimeters down than you remember
There's less.
This doesn't bother you.
Quickly, you take out the receipt
It's valued much more than you remembered, when you first started buying.
You rip off the cap and take a sip.
It doesn't spark as it once had.
The next time you go to the store, you no longer see the drink anymore
It's time in your life has bitterly ended, leaving a bad taste.
Maybe the familiar Coke or Pepsi will help.
Things like this never change.
