Every morning
I wake up
At the same time
Late in the morning
No variation

No change

No deviation
Until today

I wake up
At dawn’s first breath
And I go down to the lake

I stand on the pier
Fog curling around me
Tugging at my ankles
Threatening to envelop me
A mysterious lake
An enchanted lake
Like one from a story
With witches and wizards

In the silence
The sudden loon call is deafening
It brings me back to reality
The one filled with crime, drama, and school

School
That place where everyone is unique
And yet not many will truly be themselves

School is like

An ocean

A sea filled with emotions
Disappointment

Stress
Excitement

Building up in each one of us until
It overflows

Tears

Pain

Laughter

Love.
Each one of us is a tiny droplet
One in a million

One in a billion

One in a trillion
In this small community of people
And we’re all unique

Special in our own way

Different as fingerprints

We each
Have an identity
Something amazing

Something unique

Something special

That makes us different

Some of us stand out in that place
Of horrors

Nightmares

Hopes

Dreams

For me
It is nothing
Simply a bother

A distraction
It keeps me away from my lake

I am pulled back to the present
Some time has passed since I first came down
The fog is pulling away
Creeping back across the lake
Taking my summer away with it
