Fusion

The corridor is dark and the air is cold
Fluorescent blue lights line the walls
setting the hallway awash in cobalt
The hum of a generator harmonizes softly
with the sound of tentative footsteps
echoing off the white marble floor
Tension vibrates in the atmosphere

Palms clenched tightly by her side
Fingernails digging into skin leaving
crescent moons scattered across her flesh
As if a galaxy is embedded within her
Each bated breath rings with anticipation
An inky silhouette emerges
features indistinguishable in the dimness

The figures gradually inch closer
An eternity lingering in every footstep
Frivolous words remain unspoken
as they traverse the hazy expanse
And two silhouettes merge into one
Pupils dilated, goosebumps risen
An empty space is filled with a kiss
