Winter Tree
Cold and bare stands a winter’s tree,
sharply reminding myself of me.
It stands alone as if without a care,
watching on at the christmas fare.
It does not dance, sing or skate
nor filled with loathing does it hate.
it simply stands as one alone,
upon the ground of ice cold stone.
Within it a growing heart remains,
a shred of love throughout the pains.
All that this quiet creature desires
is not to be kindling for someone else’s fire.
