Waterfalling words cascade over the edges of Bermuda pink sand lips and they pool into my cupped hands but they’re eels and slip right through and more rush down just as I’m trying to catch the ones that have just wormed through my fingers maybe I can’t catch them because my hands aren’t big enough I need bigger hands no I need bigger feet to get me farther farther away from here where the clocks won’t move and people don’t let me latch onto them because they don’t know that I need them more than they need me because the rotation of my world is spinning the opposite direction theirs is I promise it’s true I learned it in physics class but then again maybe I misheard that day was hard to hear each tick the clock made was the giant’s foot climbing down the beanstalk and in my physics class you would know if you’ve seen it before there’s absolutely nowhere to hide and also a hurricane had happened the night before only you hadn’t heard about it because it happened in my bedroom my mom didn’t come in to check on me after it happened but that’s not her fault because she probably didn’t hear it but I heard it and it sounded like the silence after you tell someone you love them so I went to school that day with lava coating the organs that hang out in my belly and my shoes were filled with thumbtacks and an evil parasite that was born out of the dreams that I haven’t been having was rappelling down my spine and I couldn’t recognize you when you stopped me in the hallway because my eyeballs had switched sockets and they weren’t used to being in such foreign pits but you have to know that the sounds you thought were laughter were actually choking because I was scared and I didn’t know who you were and I walked towards you as you left but the tiles under me sunk with each step I took and my legs weren’t strong enough to keep going on after the floor had reached the height of my knees skin flakes off my yellowing bones as I stand stuck here flies swarming around me because I’m rotting I’m more than naked I’m flayed
