Nothing but Numb
The rain was pouring down
The night I decided to let you go
Raindrops were hitting the roof so fast
That it sounded like a machine gun
I still remember the sound of your voice
And the sound of your tears as you begged me to stay
I remember how broken you sounded
And how I felt nothing at all
It was one week after your first attempt
And just a few minutes before your next one
Your voice and the sound of the rain
Was all I heard on the other end of the phone
You told me you'd love me forever
That you'd never get over the love that we shared
And that you couldn't live without me
I listened to your pleading but
All that I felt was an indescribable numbness
Coming from what little piece was left of my heart
