Her canines slant in dramatic,
thespian angles, growling bitterly,
like witch hazel that grows in winter.

Her incisors sprawl, glassy-eyed, in
lacy corsets of plaque, and dip their toes
quietly, as nectarines hang over June.

Her tongue, bumpy after breakfast, swaths
saliva over a wiggly premolar to numb it.
She takes a blunt spoon and scoops it away
like fresh water.
